Leaving WordPress? Move the website and the work around it
You log in to change one line on the pricing page. Three plugins want updates, Site Health shows two new warnings, and the form plugin you installed years ago has stopped getting fixes. Half an hour later the pricing line still shows last year's number.
Moving to a hosted website builder fixes that screen. Pages, hosting and updates become someone else's job, and for many businesses that is reason enough to move.
Now follow a visitor who fills in your contact form. The lead goes to an inbox. Someone copies it into the CRM. When the same customer writes in with a problem, the email lands in a helpdesk that knows nothing about the sale. The website was one tool in that chain, and a new website builder leaves the chain where it was.
What a move off WordPress fixes
- Plugin and core updates
- Hosting and performance tuning
- Security patches for code you did not write
These are worth fixing, and any good hosted builder will fix them.
What it leaves behind
- Form submissions that someone copies into another tool
- A CRM, a helpdesk and a few spreadsheets that each hold part of the same customer
- An AI assistant the team pays for that can draft a reply and cannot see any of those tools
Moving the work as well as the pages
On OBTO the website is one application on a platform that also runs the apps around it: a CRM, a service desk, an approval tool for the office, whatever the team uses every day. Because they run on the same platform, a form on the site can write a record the CRM reads and the service desk can look up.
You build and change these apps from the AI client you already use. Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Codex connect to OBTO through MCP, an open standard AI clients use to reach outside tools. Ask Claude to update the pricing page, add the new plan to the CRM and leave a note for the support team. It makes the three changes, and each run returns a receipt of what changed.
What you stop maintaining
OBTO runs the hosting and keeps the platform updated. Apps are built on the platform itself, so there are no third-party plugins to keep current.
What it costs
OBTO bills per application, not per seat or per token. The free plan covers one application. Starter is $19 a month for two, Team $49 for five, and Business $149 for twenty. What you spend on your AI client stays with your AI provider. The pricing page has the full plans.
When WordPress is still the better choice
Stay on WordPress if you depend on a large plugin ecosystem, a theme marketplace or an agency that works only in WordPress. If the site is a blog and nothing else, a simpler website builder may be all you need. OBTO fits when the website is the front door of a business that runs on several other tools.
Moving an existing site
Start with the pages and forms that matter most. Rebuild them on OBTO from your AI client while your WordPress site stays live, then point your domain at OBTO when the new site is ready. Page addresses may change in the move, so list your most visited pages first. If you want help planning the move or the redirects, contact us.
